what's wrong with me

;~;
So you know the concept, right? How exactly are you having problems applying it? Basically, the farther back something is, the less saturated and blueish it is (or something else, depending on the color composition of the atmosphere). Either try playing around with low opacities, or use light, washed out colors if you start from the back, slowly making your colors stronger as you draw closer to the foreground.
the problem was getting the proper colors to achieve the effect. :V

i suppose i could experiment with using low opacity next time i open up painter :P
Yeah, just take a look at some references and study their color values. You'll get it quickly. :]
Maybe like a replication of your sky layer and then laying it over but removing opacities as it gets close to the foreground? Basically you just add your sky color as it gets farther back. You could mix them or just use some sort of layering deal.

And, I've had some success with a brown-tone underpainting and just overlaying colors set to a "color" layer... just gotta make sure that you do all your value work in the underpainting. If you lay like a light blue over something and it's waay too dar, dodge the underpainting in that spot, or just select that spot and bring up the values, whatever.
